The Berkshire Writers Haven provides an immersive retreat environment for writers.  Our exceptional gardens and grounds,  the thoughtfully curated energy in our light filled residence offers an ideal atmosphere for creative work.  Our retreat guest rooms offer a spacious, quiet and private place of your own.

We host just 1-2 writers at a time,  to prioritze individual focus.  When you step out of your daily life and give yourself uninterrupted time and space for your creative work, magic happens.

While your main focus during your stay will be your individual creative work, we are on hand, if needed,  to facilitate a breakthrough or enhance your experience with individual hypnosis, energy healing, and other sessions.  For more information, or to book your stay, call Lisa at 860-985-1682.

Come for a weekend stay or longer - up to a week or more.

Our spacious and comfortable guest rooms are well equipped for writing as well as relaxing, and there are many inviting places to write throughout the house and grounds.  Books and inspiration can be found everywhere.

In warmer weather, our huge deck overlooking the main Japanese style garden is offers stunning garden views; in the winter our heated sunporch overlooking the garden and our attached greenhouse brings the green of summer inside.

The Berkshires have long been a mecca for artists and writers. We're less than a mile from Arrowhead, the home where Herman Melville wrote Moby Dick, and close to Edith Wharton's estate, "The Mount." Both sites are now museums open from Memorial Day to Veteran's Day. Theater, music (Tanglewood is less than 15 minutes away), and museums abound. Kripalu Center is also nearby.

The Berkshire Writers Haven is centrally located in the Berkshires with easy access to the Audubon Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary scenic trails, and all that the vibrant Berkshire area has to offer.

Public Transit: We're located in the heart of the Berkshire Mountains, approximately a 3 hour drive north of Manhattan. The Pittsfield bus station is 10 minutes away, and  we're happy to pick you up by prior arrangement. Uber, Lyft, and cabs are locally available.

SAINT FRANCIS AND THE SOW
by Galway Kinnell

The bud
stands for all things,
even for those things that don’t flower,
for everything flowers, from within, of self-blessing;
though sometimes it is necessary
to reteach a thing its loveliness,
to put a hand on its brow
of the flower
and retell it in words and in touch
it is lovely
until it flowers again from within, of self-blessing
